Everything you could ever need or want

Read the comments made by previous guests and two themes keep coming up – the fact that the experience is uniquely special, and that by the time you leave you realise that Phil and his wife Amanda have thought of absolutely everything!

You might like to know a bit more about what’s included before you arrive – To help you understand why life in the huts is so special (and so you don’t bring too much for your stay). You can check the inventory for a full list of what’s provided during your stay.

Location, location, location

Tor View is proud to be situated in one the highest points of the Mendip Hills. The huts reside within a beautiful green hay field with stunning views of the south. From here you can see the vast Somerset levels, Glastonbury Tor and on the clearest of days, the Quantock Hills.

Local attractions include Wells (England’s smallest cathedral city), Glastonbury (England’s hippiest town), Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge, plus some great walking and cycling country with a wealth of quirky pubs and eateries (visit our activities and outings page for more details).

Comfort, comfort, comfort

Each Shepherds Hut is double glazed and fully insulated. Both Len and Ted have a wood burning stove, en-suite and fitted kitchen. Whatever the weather you are guaranteed to be warm, snug and well fed.

A good night’s sleep is also assured with a generous double bed fitted with Tempur memory foam mattress. A luxurious duvet with fine Egyptian cotton sheets await you come sun down.

Lastly (but possibly most importantly), the en-suite shower room is ready come your arrival. Here you will find fluffy towels, shower gel and plenty of toilet tissue.

All the essentials, then some

There’s a proper fitted kitchen with hob, sink, fridge, dining table and stools, plus a list of equipment, utensils, crockery and cutlery as long as your arm. And those important little things you forget, like tea, coffee, sugar, ketchup, HP Sauce, olive oil, Colman’s Mustard, tea towels, washing up liquid and cleaning stuff – all provided! Oh, and outside, a box of fresh herbs to pick.

There’s an unlimited supply of logs for the stove, plus kindling, firelighters, matches, gloves and poker. Plenty of storage for your bags and clothes under the bed, with clothes hangers and hooks. Under the bed you’ll find board games and magazines, while there are shelves of books on country pursuits, wildlife, local guides and maps.

For outside there are a couple of bistro styled chairs and a table, picnic blanket, firepit, a small gas BBQ with tools, storage for bikes, even a two wheel barrow to carry your cases and supplies to your hut.
