A traditional village inn well known for its home-cooked food (booking recommended) and quality beers and wins and open fireplace, It is rarely closed except for Mondays, and the West Mendip Way runs right past the front door. Only 4 country miles away or 5 minutes by car.

The Oakhill Inn
We say, “This pub offers excellent food and drink, only 5 minutes’ drive, 1.5 country miles from Ted’s Hut, often fully booked at the weekends, so book in advance, a great place for that special meal.
Even a really good pub just for drinkies as well, get there early doors, before it gets busy.”
Hartley’s Kitchen
We say, “Amazing high quality breakfasts and unlimited coffee! Super lunches from celebrated cookery writer and larger than life Paul Hartley, don’t judge this book by its cover you might not be able to put it down once you start, only a 5 minute drive or 1.0 country mile from Ted’s Hut.”
The George Inn
We say, “This small, lovely family run traditional 17th century pub in the heart of the village provides real home cooked food and offers a good selection of quality beers and local ciders. Check their website for their regular food events, at only 2.5 country miles from the Huts or 5 minutes by car (very restricted parking), you could even stroll down the footpaths and back lanes to this pub in the summertime?”

We say, “A good mainstream Italian restaurant set with reasonable prices. If you are lucky, you may be able to get a table overlooking the Bishops’ Palace moat, if not it will be overlooking the historic marketplace. A good start to a night out in Wells. Just 5 Country miles away from the huts or 10 minutes by car.”
The Thatched Inn
We say this picture postcard pub is on the out skirts of the town, very close to the Kilver Court Designer village and gardens, with the great presentation of the food combined with high quality local produce it can only offer great British food, without being pretentious. Look out for the special offers on food and drinks on the chalk board, 5 country miles away from the huts or 10 minutes by car.”
The Good Earth
We say “we are not vegetarians, so we rarely eat here, it is the only true veggie restaurant for miles around. Our veggie friends rate this place highly, unfortunately it’s not open in the evening so it is a lunch time visit here. Combine it with a visit to their health food shop at the same time.”
There are also many interesting places to buy locally produced cider, cheese and other local produce. Don’t forget to visit the local markets: Wells on Wednesday and Saturday.
