Nestling at the highest point of our front hay field, and offering staggering views across the rural Mendips to Glastonbury Tor (and way beyond), you will find Ted’s Hut secluded away.
In the Somerset dialect “Ted” means to turn hay so that it dries evenly into the perfect feed for the farm animals, ensuring that all the livestock are looked after in the best way possible. Ted’s Hut continues this approach today, ensuring that all visitors have everything they need to be rested, nurtured and are fully content.
Equipped to the highest specification possible, Ted’s exclusive design and attention to detail provides luxury accommodation in the heart of nature’s wonder.
We aim to provide you with almost everything you should need for a stay here in Ted’s Hut.
We will provide you with fine Egyptian cotton bed linen for your stay; we have even provided you with a simple dry larder supply that includes West Country Tea bags, high quality ground coffee, sugar and sometimes even a pint of milk ready in the fridge for your arrival.
If you feel like lighting Ted’s wood burning stove (or fire pit), you need not worry about wood, kindling or fire starters. They are included too! So there’s no need to purchase these from a roadside garage late at night.
Stepping into the bathroom for the first time you will also find large fluffy towels, shower gel, and fresh toilet tissue. Everything one needs to make the stay perfectly perfect is provided as standard.
The area boasts some wonderful pubs and restaurants, as well as interesting places to buy locally produced cider and cheese. Bring a healthy thirst and appetite!
We’ve written a list of a few of our local pubs where we have eaten as a family. We have included those which we have tried at some time or another, but of course there are lots more in the area locally – we can’t get around them all! Please ask us for our recommendations.
Ted’s Hut is a spacious and luxurious hand made Shepherds Hut that stands 18’ by 7 1/2” wide. With a fully fitted small kitchen, Double bed/day bed 4’6” Tempur memory mattress, Integral shower room and WC.
Theres all this and more to Ted, so to see the full inventory please click here.
Shaggy sheep chic
The style is definitely rural and natural, with gentle pastel colours, enamel ware, soft throw, ancient maps, wood burning stove, old wooden trunk with kindling and a little library of vintage books on the local area and the traditional ways of life.
We offer you the flexibility to arrive when you like and to stay for as long as you want. However, durations of 2 nights (low season) and up to 3 nights (high season) are the minimum stay required.
Due to the character and popularity of our huts, we strongly advise you to book well in advance to secure your preferred dates as we may not be able to accommodate your last minute booking.
One Night Wonders
From only £135!
Although we know you will get more out of your experience and better value with a 2 or 3 night stay in the huts, we do occasionally book one night breaks.
These are only available when there is an odd night left on its own. They cannot be booked more than 6 weeks in advance, or within a week of arrival. If you spot a night left on its own within the next 2-5 weeks, email us to ask about booking!

Eco power all year round
Ted’s electrics are powered by the solar panels installed on the roof! This provides plenty of power for the indoor and outdoor lighting as well as the usb power points, even during the winter. So you can rest assured that your smartphone, tablet or ebook reader can be charged (using the wall mounted usb sockets). This does however mean that there are no 3 pin plug sockets within the hut for devices that require more power, offering you a real retreat from the modern world.
If you own a ‘Granny’ cable, you’ll be able to charge your vehicle on-site as the socket is located next to ‘Ted’. All we ask is that you make a donation (suggested amount £5) to an environmental charity such as Friends of the Earth when you return home.
The Small Print
Basically, there isn’t any.
The prices shown include everything. Honest. There are no hidden fees, surcharges or surprises.
Wood, kindling and firelighters for the fire pit and outdoor oven are all provided upon arrival. Please use responsibly.
Hot tub only,
We provide 1 bag of British grown kiln dried hardwood logs for every night booked. This should provide approximately 3 hours of fuel to heat the water to an ideal temperature in the summer, and approximately 2 hours in the winter.
If you should run out of your complementary allocated supply during your stay, extra bags are for sale here on site.
So the price you see here is the price you pay.
Also included in the price is our friendly, helpful nature and advice on where to go – what to see- where to eat – should you want suggestions.
Should you have any further questions, we have the answers, so why not contact us now.
"Since we booked this holiday we have been counting down the days. The expectation was surpassed by Len! We have done so much in our time here but most of all we have relaxed and enjoyed the peace. Cooked steaks in the fire pit, watched deer in ‘our’ field and listened to the owls around us. Lit the stove and cooked (windows & doors open) and constantly found new things hidden away. Thank you Phil & making us so welcome."
"We loved staying in the cosy, warm hut, the fog, gales and the beating rain made it even more atmospheric. The attention to detail is amazing, and we had such fun opening all the draws and cupboards and being surprised at we found!
The books were apt and interesting and we loved the sheep memorabilia, there is so much packed into a small space and it still looks modern and uncluttered."
"Wow! It’s like the Tardis, you’ve packed in so much but it feels so spacious, and all done with so much thought and style. I think you’ve set the “gold standard” for glamping, and the en suite is wonderful. It’s a magical place, mysterious outside, with the mist at sunset, but the lights were on warm and welcoming like a secret cocoon."
